Hand made love

We have lots of hand made cuties in store at the moment. Sue from Port Fairy has been making us beautiful toys and blankets for a number of years now, she works mainly with recycled wool blankets and turns them into beautiful and unique stuffed toys, the recycled wool sphere ball which is pictured here is one of our most popular sellers. My mum has also been busy working away making the cute little crochet owls above as well as some crochet baby hats, she is in the process of making some vintage style patchwork quilts at the moment so keep a look out for those in the coming weeks. If you have anything unique you make at home which you think might be suitable for my little shop please feel free to come in and show me, I would love to see it.

Crochet ponchos

Just arrived in store, we have a few gorgeous little crochet ponchos. They are hand made by some beautiful ladies and are all totally unique. The colours they have used are quite unusual which make them even more irresistible. My daughter absolutely loves hers, the other day she had it on with her patchwork jeans and cowgirl boots and she looked gorgeous. If they made them smaller, I would wear one myself.

Happy Easter

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Easter, I hope you all have a lovely little break. My family and I will be busily working away on my shop in Carlton, giving it a beautiful new make over. I'm really looking forward to doing it as I have been wanting to change things for so long, I have so many ideas, it's just a matter of squeezing everything into five days. We will be working hard, so that's just an excuse to eat more chocolate!

Goodbye little room

We have started the shop make over....this is the old room out the back of the shop and now it is an empty shell waiting for a transformation. We will attack the rest of the shop over Easter so I'm very busy getting the finishing touches all sorted out...lights to cover, wallpaper to put up, curtains to make and lots and lots of painting. Mum and I will be busy little bees.....but it will be worth it!

Down to the woods

I'm so excited! I have just spent the last 3 days at Kids in Style in Sydney. Kids in Style is a trade fair event held twice a year and I go there to find new things for the shop. It is more of a boutique fair because everything you see is just beautiful. I'm excited because I have found some amazing new pieces for the shop, the toadstool lights are just divine and part of a series of vintage style lamps that include a bunny, squirrel, duck, seal and lighthouse to name a few. I have new wall art coming and lots of unique little bits and pieces also coming in. The Miss Haidee vintage dresses for next summer are to die for! It's just to long to wait!

My beautiful lamp

I just had to post this picture of my new lamp, I'm in love with it. Chloe, Mum and I went out for some shopping recently and we came across David Bromley's store 'A day on earth' in Chapel street. I knew he had a store in Daylesford but I didn't realise he also had a store in Melbourne. When I walked into the store this lamp jumped out at me a mile away, I turned to my Mum and said, 'I have to have it'. She knew I wanted to buy something special in memory of my Dad, I had just been waiting for the right piece to come along. We both agreed it was it! The guy running the shop could see how excited I was and said to me would I like to see some more, he then took us all up to the next floor and I was just blown away, it was David Bromleys studio and entire art collection. It was magical! An amazing experience that not many people would ever get to see, how lucky am I.

School holiday fun

The school holidays are almost over and as much as I have loved spending everyday with my little Chloe, I'm totally running out of things to do. Chloe is hanging to get back to school and see all her little friends and I really need get back into focusing on the shop. The shop is having a makeover shortly, I'm very excited and have lots of ideas. Just have to work out where to start....I have been collecting lots of vintage wallpaper and fabrics to deck the store out with, so I can't wait to get into it. Will keep you posted.....this picture is of Chloe making lip balm, as you can see it somehow ended up all over her mouth and her new dress....but we had fun doing it.

Hooray for Noddy

I just love Noddy, he is one of my all time favourites. Most of the Noddy items listed in my store are now discontinued with the manufacturer, which is such a shame. I have a few of each left but not many. I'm going to try and find some more Noddy toys, I might have to search overseas because he just isn't as popular here in Australia. When I was in Europe recently they had Noddy biscuits and cereal. I need to start looking!

A true inspiration

I hope everyone has had a lovely break over the new year. Let's hope this is the start of wonderful year for everyone.
I apologise for my store closing down just before Christmas, my Grandpa passed away and I went to New Zealand to say good bye. My Grandfather was an amazing man, a true gentleman and a very talented artist. He started out as a Visual Merchandiser just as I did and has been my greatest inspiration. Always and forever in my heart.
